National Preparedness Month (NPM), is recognized each September. It provides an opportunity to remind us that we all must prepare ourselves and our families now and throughout the year to be prepared for any disaster that strikes.

This year the National Preparedness Month will focus on planning, with an overarching theme of Disasters Happen. Prepare Now. Learn How. Consider taking time this month to learn a lifesaving skill, like CPR or First Aid. Make sure to check your insurance policies and coverage of hazards, such as flood, earthquakes, and tornadoes to make sure you are aware of potential risks specific to your area.

 2018 Weekly NPM Themes:

• Week 1: Sept 1-8 Make and Practice Your Plan
• Week 2: Sept 9-15 Learn Life Saving Skills (September 15th is a National Day of Action!)
• Week 3: Sept 16-22 Check Your Insurance Coverage
• Week 4: Sept 23-29 Save For an Emergency
