Top 4 Winter season disasters that you should be aware of
12/13/2022 (Permalink)
Blog Summary: SERVPRO® of Coppell and West Addison gives property owners tips on protecting themselves from winter hazards, including how to heat their homes safely, prepare for the winter, weather winter storms, and respond when disaster strikes.
SERVPRO of Coppell and West Addison is a leading commercial and residential damage restoration service provider.
When families and businesses are the victims of disasters that cause widespread water and fire damage or face small-scale emergencies, the certified and trained restoration professionals at SERVPRO of Coppell and West Addison are ready to provide the needed restoration services.
1. Winter storms
When the winter season arrives with its share of weather-related challenges, it might be impossible to avoid seasonal hazards and restoration. However, homeowners can minimize the damage that wind, snow, and rain cause, by taking proactive steps before the storm hits:
- Board up the windows.
- Secure outdoor decorations and lawn furniture to protect the home from flying debris.
- Install a sump pump to handle water in the basement.
- Inspect the roof for damage before winter and repair any spots that might be vulnerable to snow and ice.
- Clean the gutters and any debris.
Winter storms are among the most devastating seasonal hazards, and restoration efforts can be expensive. Ice storms can bring down power lines and make roads impassable. Homeowners should make plans to shelter in place and protect their homes if the weather makes it difficult to get help.
2. Burst pipes due to cold snaps
The weather can turn cold suddenly in Texas. Don't leave pipes vulnerable to freezing. Burst pipes are preventable seasonal hazards, and restoration costs might not be necessary if homeowners take the following preventative steps:
- Know how to turn off the water at the first sign of a leak.
- Allow a trickle of water to flow through the pipes.
- Insulate exterior pipes.
- Open cabinets to allow warm airflow around pipes under sinks.
- Prevent pipe corrosion by using gentle cleaners to remove clogs.
3. Fires from home heating
During the winter, many homeowners and businesses use space heaters, electric blankets, and aging HVAC systems to keep warm. They also place greater demands on their water heater. Every heating element is potentially a fire hazard if it malfunctions or if homeowners fail to use it properly.
Fire damage makes it difficult to bounce back without the help of a professional fire and water damage restoration company. When firefighters put out fires with water, they leave behind water damage and prime conditions for mold. If a fire breaks out, remediate the fire and water damage as soon as possible.
4. Sewer line backups
Sewer lines can back up for several reasons, including tree roots damaging the pipe, clogs, and blocked sewer vents. Have a professional plumber snake your sewer drain lines periodically to remove clogs and service the sump pump to prevent sewer line backups in the cold winter weather.

10 Signs Your Property Suffered From Storm Damage
8/24/2022 (Permalink)
Blog Summary: SERVPRO of Coppell and West Addison offers fast service to North Dallas and the surrounding areas and explains why it is necessary to call for professional restoration in the event of property damage.
When does property damage mean calling in the pros? The answer is almost certainly always. Not merely because professionals have the training, skills, and credentials to fix the damage, but because seemingly tiny issues can lead to devastating property damage.
Dealing with property damage is not always as clear as a downed fence or broken window. Sometimes the damage is hidden to the untrained eye. Below, we will explain how to spot these things and how technicians can help homeowners sleep better at night.
The Hidden Cost of Fire Damage
Fire might not be something most associate with storms, but it is possible. Lightning can cause fires, even without rain, thanks to dry thunderstorms. Besides that, downed power lines or other electrical devices also present a fire risk.
The smoke from a fire is black because it contains particles of what has burnt, leaving a sooty residue behind. Soot poses more risks the longer it is left undisturbed.
Despite soot being easy to clean, the average homeowner should not attempt to clean it up themselves. Soot particles are invisible when airborne, and homeowners can inhale them without noticing. Soot can cause health effects.
Other common fire damage signs to look for are:
- The smell of smoke
- Paint discoloration
- Rusting of metal and jewelry
Although fire damage is often disastrous, help is available. Fire technicians can meet all homeowners’ fire damage restoration needs.
Understanding How Water Damage Works
Water is one of the most common causes of property damage besides fire. In fact, water damage can even result from dealing with fires. As firefighters spray water throughout a home to save it, they may accidentally cause water damage to that home.
Of course, water damage from floods and storms presents a host of problems. One common form this takes is roof damage. Leaks and water stains are glaring concerns, but simply the presence of debris on a roof could signal hidden water damage.
Hiring professional water damage technicians to assess and mitigate the magnitude of storm damage is essential. Checking for debris, dents, or other damage to your roof and gutter often requires a ladder. Therefore, it is better to hire a professional who will do so safely.
The Hidden Risk of Mold
One common problem homeowners run into after a storm is mold. Mold can rapidly reproduce, and black mold may cause health effects in people and their pets. It may be necessary to replace entire portions of one’s home when mold infestation is present.
Common hidden signs of mold include:
- Rotten Smells
- White or Black Spots on Clothing
- Water Heater Leaks
- Health Effects
It is better to leave mold remediation to professionals. Coming into contact with mold without the proper training and equipment puts you at risk of breathing in the spores.

5 Common Property Damage Restoration Myths
6/29/2022 (Permalink)
Blog Summary: When a home or business owner is dealing with property damage, the amount of information and advice on how to proceed can be overwhelming and even conflicting. SERVPRO, a trusted restoration company, explains the reality of commercial damage restoration.
SERVPRO Shares 5 Common Property Damage Restoration Myths
When a home or business owner is dealing with property damage, the amount of information and advice on how to proceed can be overwhelming and even conflicting. Effective damage restoration is possible, but it's essential to avoid misinformation and build a solid strategy. This article will cover some common myths relating to commercial property damage restoration.
Myth #1 There's No Way to Remove the Smell of Smoke
The smell of smoke is notoriously challenging to remove from an area to the point where many people claim that removing it is impossible. This odor sinks deeply into porous surfaces such as wood or fabric and can remain in the building for years without proper cleaning. However, a fire damage restoration company knows how to remove this smell quickly and effectively.
Restoration contractors can locate the smell's origin and treat the area with products to restore clean, fresh air. Additionally, they can seal off areas that have received excessive smoke, protecting the rest of the building. Although smoke removal is a challenging process, the idea that it is impossible is a myth.
Myth #2 Mold Can't Grow On a Dry-Looking Surface
Another commonly accepted myth is that if a surface appears dry, mold cannot grow on it. While mold does require moisture to develop, mold remediation is more complicated than it seems. A surface can appear dry but still house a significant amount of water below the surface.
Particularly when the material is porous, it is essential to dry it completely, not just on the surface level. If water pools on floorboards or other gapped materials, it can slip between the cracks and cause mold to grow underneath the floor. Therefore, the situation requires a thorough inspection from a water damage restoration company.
Myth #3 You're Done Drying When the Carpet is Dry
Many people believe that carpets are the most critical to dry following a water leak. However, while these surfaces absorb a lot of moisture and are crucial to dry, other surfaces in the building matter, too. After a leak, owners must dry the floors, walls, and ceilings to fully dry a property.
Myth #4 Carpet Cleaning is Counter-Productive
One commercial damage restoration myth that is somewhat strange is the idea that carpet cleaning leads to carpets getting dirtier over time. While ineffective technology or poor workmanship may have misrepresented carpet cleaning to you, modern carpet cleaners are highly effective at removing dirt, stains, and smells.
Myth #5 It's Cheaper to Do it Yourself
Although home and business owners can often save money by handling projects on their own, it is challenging to do this for damage restoration. Particularly in the case of a fire or flood, the damage to the building can be quite extensive and even threaten structural integrity. Improper repairs can lead to further damage as time goes on.
Therefore, working with an experienced restoration company can save building owners time and money while also protecting the safety and health of residents or patrons. These projects are complex, so it is essential to find a company you can trust before starting the process. SERVPRO is a trusted and experienced provider of water and fire damage restoration services in Las Colinas, TX.
With years of experience providing damage restoration services for Texas homes and businesses, the team at SERVPRO is perfectly equipped to handle residential or commercial damage restoration projects. The contractors always arrive promptly and can provide emergency restoration services when problems arise.

How Does Water Damage Restoration Limit Property Damage After A Disaster?
5/13/2022 (Permalink)
Blog Summary: SERVPRO of Coppell and West Addison shares details about why property owners should allow the professionals to remove water from their properties after a flood, burst pipe, or other water damage event.
Water Damage Restoration Company Shares Why Water Extraction Is Necessary
Property owners in Las Colinas, TX, may want professional assistance following a water damage event like a flood, sewage backup, or burst pipe. These events introduce immense amounts of water into properties, resulting in structural damage or mold growth.
Fast water extraction and water damage restoration allow property owners to address these issues while returning their properties to better-than-new condition. SERVPRO of Coppell and West Addison offers complete restoration services.
Why Schedule Water Extraction?
Property owners have three primary reasons to schedule prompt water removal:
Prevent Mold Growth
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), mold begins growing and spreading within 48 hours of water damage events. Mold grows well in damp and dark environments, such as under floors or inside walls damaged by water, so it can be hard to find without using professional tools.
Water damage restoration and water extraction get excess moisture out of properties in Las Colinas. Once mold establishes a foothold in a property, it’s much more difficult and expensive to get rid of it. In addition, spores can infest HVAC ducts, spreading even after initial mold cleanup.
Reduce Total Property Damage
In addition to issues with mold, water causes increasing amounts of damage over time. Allowing water to remain in a property often leads to structural damage and problems with drywall, insulation, and other building materials.
Avoid Pest Infestations
Many pests look for moist environments to grow and multiply. Insects especially look for damp locations. Property owners often notice infestations of springtails, cockroaches, and crickets after water damage events.
Fortunately, companies with highly trained technicians who handle water and storm damage restoration can quickly address issues with excess moisture.
What to Expect from Water Extraction
Water damage restoration professionals take care of water removal in Coppell, West Addison, and surrounding areas. Teams often use:
- Professional-grade pumps to remove large quantities of water
- Truck-mounted vacuums to suck out water
- Fans to dry damp areas
- Dehumidifiers to further dry out properties
Crews may perform a commercial cleaning after removing water from the property to remove odors associated with moisture and humidity. Some technicians also use specialized scanners to look for hidden moisture on the property.
Situations That Require Water Extraction
Water extraction often becomes necessary after natural disasters like floods and hurricanes. Plumbing malfunctions, including burst pipes or slow leaks, may also require water removal from commercial or residential properties.
Property owners sometimes require help with water removal as part of the fire restoration process. Water damage often occurs as a result of fires due to sprinkler systems or the efforts of firefighters to control the flames.
In addition to handling smoke, soot, and ash removal, fire cleanup often involves water removal. The process may also require mold removal in some situations, especially if the water sits for an extended time.
Get professional help with water damage restoration and water extraction in the Coppell and Las Colinas, TX, area from SERVPRO. SERVPRO offers 24-hour emergency services and employs highly trained technicians who understand the needs of property owners in the local area.

Qualities to Look for in a Professional Mold Removal Company
2/28/2022 (Permalink)
Blog Summary: SERVPRO draws on more than 50 years of experience as a residential and commercial restoration company to highlight what property owners in Coppell, TX, should look for when choosing a mold removal service.
Traits to Look for When Choosing a Mold Removal Company
Friendly, Professional Customer Service
The hallmark of any successful business is the foundation of trust formed between the company and its customers.
For property owners seeking residential or commercial cleaning and restoration services such as mold removal or fire restoration, a business's customer service quality and attitude are critical. Quality, personable service can transform potentially stressful situations into well-managed recoveries with as little as a compassionate approach.
Certification and Licensing
Mold removal is a potentially hazardous task. The removal and subsequent sanitation processes often involve toxic cleaning chemicals such as ammonia and bleach.
Professional mold removal companies undergo thorough training, certification, and licensing before selling their services. These training processes ensure the customer's safety and that of the technicians, the customer's family, and all property.
A licensed professional mold remediation company in Texas, will follow rules and regulations set forth by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). The representative will advise potential customers on procedures needing to be followed to help ensure proper mold remediation and allow the customer to receive a Certificate of Mold Damage Remediation.
Property owners seeking mold removal in Coppell, TX, should choose a restoration company that holds valid licensing for the services offered.
Insurance
Any responsible business actively protects its workers as well as its clients. This protection is vital for companies that perform potentially hazardous services, such as water damage restoration or mold removal.
A comprehensive business insurance policy is one of the best ways for a cleaning and restoration service, like SERVPRO, to safeguard clients, technicians, and property. Clients who need professional mold removal or damage cleanup services should ask about insurance policies before hiring a company for a job.
Thorough Inspections and Testing
Often, homeowners mold and mildew for dirt because they may not look like traditional fungal contaminations. This type of insidious damage may spread in hidden areas between walls or dark, poorly ventilated spaces.
Full-Service Removal and Protection
In many cases, mold and mildew are the byproducts of water damage or flooding, either due to plumbing issues, severe weather, or both. Water damage is a compound problem, posing multiple hazards before, during, and after cleanup.
An experienced and thorough mold removal company typically works with or provides storm damage restoration services. Full-service storm damage restoration companies have comprehensive experience and knowledge of various issues, from burst pipes to basement flooding. As a result, these technicians can:
- Adequately assess safety hazards in different environments
- Address underlying causes of flooding or water damage
- Remove standing water as well as water absorbed by walls, floors, and other surfaces
- Chemically sanitize mold and mildew
- Apply measures to prevent mold and mildew regrowth

How To Create an Emergency Readiness Plan with Property Damage Restoration Experts Like SERVPRO
9/27/2021 (Permalink)
Blog Summary: The team at SERVPRO of Coppell and West Addison provides cost-effective property damage restoration for Texas, and a foolproof emergency readiness plan can make it far simpler when the time comes to call in the professionals.
SERVPRO is a multinational property damage restoration chain with branches in more than 1,700 locations. The company works at a local level through its franchises, and the pooled resources help it tackle any emergency restoration as the action happens. SERVPRO’s trained teams handle fire and smoke damage, wind damage, storm damage, burst pipes, and more; twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
SERVPRO Recommends Four Aspects For a Foolproof Emergency Readiness Plan
The local experts at SERVPRO know that a natural disaster is a challenging time for everyone, especially if property damage comes into play. These professionals do everything they can to make the property damage restoration process as easy as possible, including working directly with insurance companies. One of their top recommendations is to have a foolproof emergency plan in place before these disasters strike.
Here are four considerations for a business creating an emergency readiness plan:
#1 Prepare a Custom Checklist for Fire Restoration or Storm Damage Restoration
When a catastrophe happens, people quickly become lost, confused, and hopeless. Preparation can make anyone feel more in control of the events, even in disastrous circumstances. Each home or business owner will have a unique plan for the premises, but adding a professional property damage restoration company like SERVPRO to that regimen is an excellent place to start.
As one of the top restoration companies, SERVPRO prides itself on offering some of the best services to its customers, regardless of the scope of the damage. The company has been running for more than 50 years, so Texas residents know that their storm or fire damage restoration services are dependable. Whether residents need help in five months or five years, SERVPRO will be ready and waiting.
#2 Time is of the Essence With Water Damage Restoration
One of the most important variables in any emergency preparedness plan is time, especially with flooding or other water damage restoration. Standing water wreaks havoc as it seeps through walls, between shingles, and into basements. A plan in case of a fire can save family members’ lives, just like an emergency action plan for floods or catastrophic plumbing leaks can save homes, belongings, and valuables.
#3 Commercial Cleaning and Restoration Can Restore Cities
When a natural disaster happens on a larger scale, entire towns and cities might be reeling in its wake. A robust property damage restoration provider like SERVPRO is instrumental in getting homes and businesses in these areas safe and functional in the aftermath. They also provide impressive commercial cleaning skills to move the repair and restoration process quickly.
When disaster destroys a home or business, salvaging important documents and possessions can feel impossible. Don’t worry; experienced companies like SERVPRO offer professional drying services. The benefits of these services also extend to items like irreplaceable documents and restoration services for other belongings or furnishings.
#4 Check the SERVPRO Readiness App
Technology makes action plans easier, and SERVPRO offers just such an app. It helps home and business owners access their “ready plans” from any device during an emergency. The Ready Plan app is completely free to install and use, connecting those who need it to SERVPRO’s help and storing important information like utility shut-off locations, emergency contacts, and more.
Call SERVPRO of Coppell and West Addison at (972) 233-8400 today, or connect to them on the app or via SERVPROofcoppellandwestaddison@gmail.com for professional property damage restoration and emergency response services.
Restore Your Home Safely with Professional Mold Remediation from SERVPRO in Addison, TX
8/12/2021 (Permalink)
Blog Summary: Working with an experienced mold remediation company is vital to prevent spores from spreading. Here are four reasons to choose SERVPRO of Coppell and West Addison for mold removal services in Addison, TX.
When it comes to mold removal, it’s best to work with certified professionals. Improper mold remediation can spread spores to other parts of a building, and mold is notorious for hiding in hard-to-reach spaces. Even a small patch of unaddressed mold alongside high humidity can quickly lead to the need for mold removal all over again.
Mold remediation experts like the team at SERVPRO of Coppell and West Addison also know the state laws concerning inspection, documentation, and appropriate removal processes. Here are a few more reasons to turn to SERVPRO for mold remediation services in Addison, TX, and the surrounding community.
4 Reasons Why SERVPRO is the Best Choice for Mold Remediation Services
#1 SERVPRO Has Highly Trained Technicians that Understand Mold
While some mold services might advertise “full mold removal,” SERVPRO’s technicians know better than to make claims like that. Mold moves around by relying on tiny spores that are invisible to the naked eye. It is impossible to fully remove all the mold spores in a space.
Mold spores are everywhere. They can be brought in on clothes, pets, float in through open windows and doors, and even get pulled into HVAC systems. Mold spores will attach to moist environments and begin multiplying rapidly. While mold spores are found in every building in Addison, removing established colonies and reducing moisture levels can prevent them from becoming problematic.
#2 SERVPRO Knows the Steps to Take to Remediate Mold Properly
The first step SERVPRO’s technicians take to remediate mold in a home or business is to find the moisture source that allows the mold spores to multiply. Essentially, the mold needs moisture to thrive. When that moisture source is found and removed, the mold won't be able to keep a foothold.
#3 SERVPRO Has the Tools to Get the Job Done Right
Advanced technology and tools allow the SERVPRO team to detect mold in places that home and business owners might not see on their own. They also have mold containment devices, like negative air chambers, to prevent further mold contamination. This helps stop mold spores in their tracks.
After detection and containment of the mold, the SERVPRO team will begin using specialized air filtration tools like HEPA vacuums to help catch any released spores. Tools like this reduce the spread of mold spores and stop them from finding another damp place to hide and grow in.
Advanced antifungal and antimicrobial treatments will be brought in to reduce the mold colony. If the mold has damaged the drywall or carpeting in the area, the SERVPRO team knows how to remove and dispose of the materials safely.
#4 SERVPRO Restores Items Affected by Mold
After addressing the mold growth with a multi-faceted approach, the SERVPRO team will begin to clean and restore the items in the space. That could include furniture, clothing, home decor, curtains, and more. SERVPRO even offers deodorization as part of the mold remediation process to help remove musty, moldy odors.
About SERVPRO of Coppell and West Addison
SERVPRO of Coppell and West Addison offers a range of clean-up and restoration services, including water damage restoration, fire restoration, mold remediation, and storm damage restoration. Water damage and mold often go hand in hand. The SERVPRO team will know what to look for.
To schedule mold remediation in Addison, TX, call SERVPRO’s 24-hour service line at (972) 233-8400 or follow them on Facebook to stay up to date on the latest restoration techniques.

Is your home ready for the winter weather?
12/6/2020 (Permalink)
Let SERVPRO of Metrocrest help you if disaster strikes because of cold weather. (972) 233-8400. https://www.SERVPROmetrocrest.com/
Here in the Dallas area the temperatures are getting low. Are you prepared for this kind of weather? Cold weather can have a huge impact on your property if you are not ready. While you cannot control the weather, you can take the appropriate steps to be prepared.
It is important to protect water pipes from freezing by simply allowing water to drip when temperatures dip below freezing. If pipes are under a cabinet, leave the cabinet doors open, allowing warm inside air to circulate around the pipes.
Inspect your property, especially walkways and parking spots, for proper drainage to alleviate a potential flood hazard.
Make sure your chimney flute is cleaned and the vent is open. With the cold weather comes fires in fireplaces.
Test your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Winter is the time most house fires happen. It’s the time of year when we’re blasting the furnace and building fires. We are also much more likely to have our home closed tight, so carbon monoxide is a much bigger hazard.
Check your drainage. Make sure the soil around your foundation has not settled, creating areas for water to pool at your foundation. If you find a low spot, simply fill it in with some soil.
Seal your masonry and hard surfaces. Your patio needs attention, too. If you have a concrete patio, driveways, or walkways, make sure they are protected as well.
Paint, caulk, and seal exterior wood. All the wood trim on the exterior of your home needs to be protected from the elements.
Check your home’s heating and air conditioning system. Before the weather turns cold, take this time to change your filters, at the very least. Better yet, investigate an annual maintenance agreement. It is much better to find an HVAC problem in the moderate temperatures of the fall than it is to find your furnace does not work on a frigid winter day.
Shut down the pool and the sprinkler system and drain outside faucets. Make sure your pool is properly shut down and prepare the system for winter.
Make sure your attic does not become a critter hotel. It is going to get cold out and your attic is the perfect winter home for squirrels and birds. These critters can cause a lot of damage and potentially some health problems.
Cover your patio furniture. Get your patio furniture protected, but make sure you wait until a clear, warm day to cover it, so you don’t trap moisture on it.
If winter weather strikes your property call SERVPRO of Metrocrest (972) 233-8400.

If your home or office suffers from mold, call SERVPRO of Metrocrest to help with your mold remediation. 9972) 233-8400
The technicians at SERVPRO of Metrocrest undergo comprehensive training to identify areas of mold and how to safely remove it. Our technicians use an array of moisture detection equipment to locate areas of raised moisture behind walls, under floors, and within ceilings.
Depending on the level of infestation in your home or office, our technicians will remove items too damaged for restoration and then bring the humidity down to levels too low for mold growth. We do this through the use of professional grade drying and dehumidifying equipment. We also spray antimicrobial solution to help stop the mold growth on all the affected areas. There are some instances in which hard scrubbing, sanding or soda blasting on surfaces will be needed to remove the mold colonies.
When mold damage has persisted for an extended period of time the severity of the damage to your home or office might be too considerable to overcome. In these cases, the only suitable solution is to remove these elements and replace them with new materials.

Signs of water damage in your bathroom
7/27/2020 (Permalink)
If your property suffers from a bathroom water damage contact SERVPRO of Metrocrest (972) 233-8400.
Water damage in your bathroom is not always easy to find since water is a normal occurrence in bathrooms.
There are many hidden culprits such as cracked shower tiles, or leaky seals around a toilet bowl where tiny leaks can end up causing large amounts of damage to the floorboards, walls, and ceilings.
Knowing what to look for is vital for any property owners. The following tips will prevent extensive water damage in bathrooms.
A Soft Floor
If you know your home was built with a wooden floor truss system, the sub floor is most likely made of plywood. If the plywood is subjected to moisture, the subfloor will rot, and the floor will begin to feel soft or spongy in places. This could lead to your entire floor collapsing if left unattended.
Trust Your Nose
If you smell something musty or damp, it could be due to moisture damage lurking behind the walls. Although many older homes have this smell, rooms with actual damage have a more prominent smell. Sometimes you might not be able to see it but be sure to trust your nose.
Warped Walls
When drywall absorbs water, it begins to swell and becomes soft. This is another clear sign that may point to an extensive problem. Over time, the damaged area starts to crumble, especially around the baseboards. If you run your hand across the wall and it feels uneven or looks crooked when you look at it, you could have water damage behind the walls.
Visible Mold
Mold is built from the inside out so that by the time you can see it, no matter how much you scrub, the problem will not go away. You will need the help of our specialists to return your home to a safe place for the whole family.
If your property suffers from a bathroom water damage, call SERVPRO of Metrocrest to help make things, “Like it never even happened.” (972) 233-8400.

An office or sales force outbreak could slow or halt sales generation and depress a revenue cycle. The cost of an absentee employee is so much more than paid sick leave.
Qualified cleaning professional like SERVPRO of Metrocrest can provide prevention strategies for a business as well as for a school, daycare or church. People recognize SERVPRO as the industry leader for water and fire damage restoration and disaster recovery. SERVPRO of Metrocrest team also specializes in commercial cleaning at a level that exceeds other cleaning services. Using advanced restoration and cleaning equipment, SERVPRO experts clean to the deepest level.
For a deep clean that can address germs and infection in an office workspace or industrial environment, the team at SERVPRO of Metrocrest offers a comprehensive solution that includes disinfecting all floors and flat surfaces. They can also address the more heavy-duty situations out on the plant floor and in the canteen, showers, and restrooms.
SERVPRO of Metrocrest can make any business look, smell, feeling fresh and clean at the same time making it a sanitary and safe environment. Most people only think of a flooded house, a sewage spill, fire damage, or disaster recovery when they think of SERVPRO. But the professionals at SERVPRO of Metrocrest have been providing deep clean and regular maintenance for businesses, schools, daycares, churches, and homes for decades.

The CDC encourages cleaning of high-touch surfaces such as counters, tabletops, doorknobs, light switches, bathroom fixtures, toilets, phones, keyboards, tablets and tables. Other spaces mentioned in the CDC’s guidance for commercial spaces include:
- Kitchen/Food Areas
- Bathrooms

The CDC recommends usage of a labeled hospital-grade disinfectant with claims against similar pathogens to the coronavirus. Multiple products in the SERVPRO product line carry the EPA-approved emerging pathogens claims. Why SERVPRO of Metrocrest for your water damage
3/16/2020 (Permalink)
Call SERVPRO of Metrocrest to help with your water mitigation needs (972) 233-8400.
When a water damage happens, regardless of the source, you need a professional service like SERVPRO of Metrocrest. We have years of experience and training to return your home to normal as quickly as possible.
Significant water damage in your home is not something many people even consider possible. Broken plumbing such as a leaking faucet can cause thousands of dollars in damage before the homeowner is even aware of it. Fortunately, SERVPRO of Metrocrest has the skills and equipment to take care of it.
First, we inspect the damage of your home. Once that is done, we remove any standing water with our water extractors.
Our next step is to examine the property no longer under water. There is always some water trapped in carpets and wood floors, so our technicians will use special vacuums designed to remove water without damaging the nape of the carpet or surface of the wood. If the standing water was high enough, there might be some amount behind the walls as well. If we find excess water, we use extraction wands to draw it out.
After all the water has been extracted our technicians will set up drying equipment such as air movers and dehumidifiers to assist and quicken the natural drying process.
If you have a water damage big or small call SERVPRO of Metrocrest. We are a 24/7 restoration company, always here to help!

Does your Dallas school need to be cleaned and disinfected from viruses?
3/10/2020 (Permalink)
Call SERVPRO of Metrocrest to clean and disinfect your school, home, or office (972) 233-8400.
The CDC has posted information on the seasonal influenza occurring at our schools recently. SERVPRO of Metrocrest can address this issue, as well as others, with the cleaning products we use. Our disinfectants are EPA, FDA and OSHA compliant, have a very low toxicity rating, and are effective against the most common disease and odor-causing organisms, including MRSA, HIV-1 (AIDS virus), Influenza A2, Avian Flu, VRE, TB, Herpes, and many others.
Differences between cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing
- Cleaning removes germs, dirt, and impurities from surfaces or objects. Cleaning works by using soap (or detergent) and water to physically remove germs from surfaces. This process does not necessarily kill germs, but by removing them, it lowers their numbers and the risk of spreading infection.
- Disinfecting kills germs on surfaces or objects. Disinfecting works by using chemicals to kill germs on surfaces or objects. This process does not necessarily clean dirty surfaces or remove germs, but by killing germs on a surface after cleaning, it can further lower the risk of spreading infection.
- Sanitizing lowers the number of germs on surfaces or objects to a safe level, as judged by public health standards or requirements. This process works by either cleaning or disinfecting surfaces or objects to lower the risk of spreading infection.
SERVPRO of Metrocrest, based in Dallas, Texas can address these issues in an educational environment, business environment, or any other setting where many are working in close contact with others. SERVPRO can clean and disinfect the surroundings to prevent the spread of these viruses.

Spring Cleaning Time in Farmers Branch, TX
3/3/2020 (Permalink)
Call SERVPRO of Metrocrest (972) 233-8400
It's spring cleaning time in Farmers Branch, Texas! This is the season when we brush off the stunted growth of winter by cleaning every surface. This annual ritual will restore and renovate the appearance of your home or office, but there is another even more important reason for performing these tasks - your family/co-worker’s health.
Did you know that your home/office is a huge germ collector in the winter months? The windows are closed, and air doesn't move much, so when people come down with colds and flu, germs have as heyday bouncing around and collecting on every surface. This greater exposure to germs impacts the healthfulness of our homes/Office.
Once those warm spring breezes begin to blow, lift the windows so clean air can fill your home/office and replace the dust and stale air winter creates. A good and thorough house/office cleaning, including those areas that we typically clean less often like carpets and rugs, curtains, upholstered furniture, tops of door frames, can help remove the dirt, allergens and germs floating around your home to make it healthier and safer for all who live and visit there. SERVPRO of Metrocrest can come in and take care of all your spring cleaning needs. Call us at (972) 233-8400 to schedule your carpet and duct cleanings.

Get your Farmers Branch, TX property prepared for the cold temperatures

Call SERVPRO of Metrocrest for all your restoration needs (972) 233-8400.
Cold temperatures can take a toll on your home or business. It is important that you prepare your home for the cold weather to limit risks of potential damage. When preforming maintenance and ensuring that you are limiting risks of damage it is important to be thorough while inspecting your home or place of business. Install foam-rubber gaskets behind electrical outlets & switch covers on exterior walls. If you don’t use your fireplace, plug the flue with an inflatable plug. Make sure that you replace any broken windows and re-putty any loose windowpanes, seal around windows and door trims or use weather stripping for windows that are opened. Check in the attic of your home; weather strip & insulate the access door from your attic into your home, seal around your chimney with metal flashing or a high temperature sealant, seal around plumbing vents, seal any holes between the heated space and the attic and insulate any exposed water pipes. If water damage occurs in your home due to extreme weather or anything else, make sure to call SERVPRO of Metrocrest to help with all your water restoration needs.

Does Your Coppell, TX Home Have A Mold Problem?
11/18/2019 (Permalink)
If you find mold damage in your home of business, call SERVPRO of Metrocrest (972) 233-8400.
Microscopic mold spores naturally occur almost everywhere, both outdoors and indoors. This makes it impossible to remove all mold from a home or business. Therefore, mold remediation reduces the mold spore count back to its natural or baseline level. Some restoration businesses advertise “mold removal” and even guarantee to remove all mold, which is a fallacy. Consider the following mold facts:
- Mold is present almost everywhere, indoors and outdoors.
- Mold spores are microscopic and float along in the air and may enter your home through windows, doors, or AC/heating systems or even hitch a ride indoors on your clothing or a pet.
- Mold spores thrive on moisture. Mold spores can quickly grow into colonies when exposed to water. These colonies may produce allergens and irritants.
- Before mold remediation can begin, any sources of water or moisture must be addressed. Otherwise, the mold may return.
- Mold often produces a strong, musty odor and can lead you to possible mold problem areas.
- Even higher-than-normal indoor humidity can support mold growth. Keep indoor humidity below 45 percent.
If your home or business has a mold problem, we can inspect and assess your property and use our specialized training, equipment, and expertise to remediate your mold infestation.

A Water Damage and a Pack-Out
7/28/2019 (Permalink)
Did you know SERVPRO of Metrocrest did pack-outs?
When a home in Frisco, TX had a water damage, SERVPRO of Metrocrest was on site within an hour! Multiple rooms were affected by the water damage. SERVPRO of Metrocrest extracted the water, set up drying and equipment but the only way to make it "Like it never even happened.” was to also do a complete pack-out of furniture and contents of the home. A pack-out, in regard to a water clean-up, basically means that everything that can be salvaged is inventoried, pictures taken and packed into boxes and moved to clean, secure location to be cleaned. SERVPRO of Metrocrest’s experienced technicians were able to carefully clean and sanitize most of the items and furniture at our Addison, TX office. The few items that were unsalvageable were documented and sent to the insurance company. All of the cleaned, restored, furniture and contents, were then able to be stored and returned to the homeowners home as soon as all the reconstruction was done.

10 MOST COMMON PLACES FOR MOLD GROWTH IN YOUR HOME
5/9/2019 (Permalink)
When it comes to your home or business mold is not something you want to mess around with. Mold can become extremely hazardous to your health, and if left untreated can cause costly structural damage to building materials. If you find mold growing in your home, it’s important to call in a professional company, Like SERVPRO of Metrocrest, who has the experience and expertise to have the mold completely removed by using the correct process.
Mold is a living organism that belongs to the fungi family. There are over 100,000 species of mold, and all of them can be harmful if not properly taken care of.
If oxygen and moisture are present, mold can virtually grow on any organic surface such as paper, wood, insulation, food, and carpet padding. Because mold will eat or digest what it is growing on, if left untreated, mold can even cause structural damage to buildings and furnishings.
10 Places to Watch for Mold Growth in Your Home:
- Underneath kitchen sinks
- Attics & Crawl Spaces
- Underneath or behind refrigerators
- Behind walls that also house plumbing
- Stacks of damp or wet newspaper or cardboard boxes
- Around air-conditioning units
- Wallboard or around windows that leak
- Under carpeting that may have become wet
- Bathroom shower or under sink
You can prevent damage to your home or business, its contents, save money, and avoid potential health problems by controlling moisture and eliminating mold growth.
Reminder: With any type of water damage in the home drying the affected areas within three days or less will help prevent the growth of toxic mold that can make you extremely sick.
We hope you never have to experience mold in your home, but if it does happen contact SERVPRO of Metrocrest and speak to one of our experienced team members who can help you quickly find a solution to your mold issue, and make it “Like it never even happened.”

Getting your property prepared for the cold in Addison, Texas.
12/6/2018 (Permalink)
Cold temperatures can take a toll on your home or business. It is important that you prepare your home for the cold weather to limit risks of potential damage. When preforming maintenance and insuring that you are limiting risks of damage it is important to be thorough while inspecting your home or place of business. Install foam-rubber gaskets behind electrical outlets & switch covers on exterior walls. If you don’t use your fireplace, plug the flue with an inflatable plug. Make sure that you replace any broken windows and re-putty any loose window panes, seal around windows and door trims or use weather stripping for windows that are opened.
